ABOUT
René Brar is a producer and filmmaker who was born and raised in Vancouver.
After studying film at Yale, he gained experience working on films directed by Todd Haynes and Todd Solondz. He later settled in Los Angeles, where he worked as a development executive for Ridley Scott before pursuing his own creative projects.
Brar made his directorial debut with TAYLOR'S WAY, a haunting, visually rich drama that premiered at Italy’s Potenza International Film Festival in 2009, winning the Audience Prize. He directed his second feature, MARTIN'S PINK PICKLE, a bittersweet coming-of-age story that premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2014.
As a television producer, Brar has created and sold original formats to streamers and broadcasters, including Netflix, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Television, Virgin Media, and Channel 4 (UK).
He holds a bachelor’s degree in film and a master’s degree in religion, both from Yale University.
